Quiet Riot have a new lead singer. John Torra, twenty three and from Long Island, takes the position after an open call that the band say drew more than seven hundred submissions.
Torra sent audition videos to the band's management and had also been posting performances online. He is now listed alongside Alex Grossi on guitar and Johnny Kelly on drums.
The band formed in Los Angeles in 1975 and have been through more singers than most bands have had members, a sequence that began when Kevin DuBrow died in 2007 and has not settled since. An open call rather than a phone call to somebody already known is a different method, and seven hundred replies suggests the job still carries weight.
