Seven years is a long time to keep a heavy metal band waiting, and the Swedes have used all of it. RAM release Against on 9 October through Metal Blade Records, their first album since The Throne Within.
Abattoir is the newest song out. Singer Oscar Carlquist called it pure speed metal and put it somewhere between the Bonded By Blood era of Exodus and Accept, saying the words are about guillotines going back up when things come to a head. Night Blade was released before it.
The eleven tracks are Obsession, Ghost Emperor, One Vs. All, Abattoir, Out of Control, Leaving, Against, Night Blade, Rising Again, 1984 and The Final Hour. The band produced the record with Johan Reiven, who worked with them on Lightbringer in 2009, and describe the album as a plainer approach built around being pushed past a reasonable limit and refusing to fit in.
RAM formed in Gothenburg in 1999.
