Resin Tomb release Fetid Existence on 15 January through Transcending Obscurity. Eight songs, their second album, and the title track and "Ancestral Agony" are already up.
The Brisbane band's method has not changed: death metal, grindcore, black metal and sludge in the same song, with dissonant guitar work holding the seams together. What is different, by their own account, is that this time they worked on how those four things talk to each other rather than on each of them separately.
That is the hard part. A band can sound like four genres by accident; sounding like one band that uses four is a writing problem, and it is usually what separates a second album from a debut in this corner of Australian metal.
Eight tracks is also a choice. Grindcore would give you fifteen and death metal nine, and eight at album length means these are songs rather than bursts.
