Revenant have reformed, thirty one years after they stopped. Four of the men on the records are back: Henry Veggian singing, Dave Jengo on guitar, Tim Scott on bass and John McEntee, who has rejoined on guitar.

Todd Gukelberger, from Prime Evil, takes the drum stool. The seat is open because Will Corcoran has died, and that is worth stating plainly rather than leaving in a line-up note.

The band existed from 1986 to 1995 and put out one album, Prophecies Of A Dying World, in 1991. One album in nine years sounds like failure and in this case was not: the record has spent three decades being handed between people who care about the harder, more technical edge of American death metal, and it has outlasted bands who released five.

What the band have announced is live shows, reissues and the possibility of new material. The order of those three is the honest one, and the reissues may matter most, since a record that circulates on reputation alone eventually needs to be bought again.
