Ruadh have a fifth album coming on 4 December. Rising goes out through Northern Silence Productions as a limited digipak of five hundred copies, and it holds five songs, the first of which, Tandem Triumphans, is already online.

The four that follow are Prestonpans, Derby, Defeat at Culloden and Escape and Exile. Those are the stations of the Jacobite rising of 1745 in sequence: the victory outside Edinburgh in the September of that year, the march south that turned back in the English midlands, the field in Inverness-shire where it ended the following April, and the flight after it. Five tracks arranged as a campaign rather than as a running order.

Ruadh started in Glasgow in 2018 as Tom Perrett alone and is now four people, with Kimberly Copland on bass since 2022, Alan Buchan on guitars and backing vocals since the same year and Bryan Hamilton on drums since 2023. Four albums came first: Sovereign in 2019, The Rock of the Clyde in 2020, Eternal in 2021 and 1296 in 2023, that last one named for a year in the wars of independence. Scottish history has been the subject every time.

Tandem Triumphans runs eight minutes and ten seconds, which makes it the longest piece on a record of five, and Metal Archives files the band as atmospheric folk and black metal in that order.
