Rwake have a live album coming on 13 November, and the circumstances of it are the whole point. Built From Stardust is The Return of Magik played from start to finish in Little Rock, their own town, one day after the studio record came out.

The band said they wanted to do exactly that, immediately, and to document it so they could pass it on. Most of the material had never been played live before that night, which means what is on the tape is a band working out in public how their newest songs behave on a stage.

The Return of Magik was their first album since Rest in 2011, a gap of fourteen years for a band that has been going out of Arkansas since 1996. With Stardust Flowers is out as the first piece of the live set.

Long sludge songs do not usually survive the move to a live recording with their shape intact, which is one reason bands at this level rarely try it this early. Doing it the day after release leaves no room to tidy anything up afterwards.
