Sacral Rage have dated Ark Of Cosmic Resonance for 27 November on No Remorse Records. It is their third album and the first since Beyond Celestial Echoes in 2018, which means the eight year gap the signing announcement was built around now has an end date on it.
"Parallax Paradox" is out first. The band produced the record themselves and mixed and mastered it with George Christoforidis at Ignite Studios in Athens, with a cover by Aaron Lawrance.
The science fiction is not decoration. The album sits inside a story the band have been writing in prose as well, a concept novella called Origins of UL, and the singer speaks in character as UL: "We have worn a thousand faces. We have spoken through a thousand voices... Become one with the transmission." Greek bands of this kind tend to take the late eighties American model and push it somewhere stranger, and this one has been doing that since 2011.
The reference points have not moved either: the technical end of US metal, early nineties progressive writing, and the high register that makes the whole thing sound like it was recorded in 1988 by people who had read too much.
