Samy Elbanna sings Children of Bodom songs on stage now, and he has said the thing most people in that position avoid saying.
"I'm honored that I can be playing a little part in bringing that legacy to the stages," the Lost Society frontman told Chaoszine. "The guys have fantastically and beautifully kept the band alive in that sense, and I'm just happy that I can help bring that to the stages and be able to help perform those songs."
Then the rest of it. "I can't say this is something that I was always waiting to do. Obviously not, because in order for this to happen something devastating had to happen, and I'm not the dude who should be there doing it. But we're in this situation where everyone knows that this is unfortunately the reality, and whatever the guys choose to do, I'm happy if I can help in some way."
Alexi Laiho died in December 2020. Every band that carries on after a voice like that has to find somebody willing to stand in a place that is not theirs, and the ones who do it well are usually the ones who refuse to pretend otherwise.
