Scarlet Anger release Echoes Of The Past on 22 January through Metalville. It is their fourth album.
What they say about it is the usual promise with one honest qualifier attached. "Our thrash metal roots are still clearly audible, but this time we're moving further towards modern thrash metal, experimenting with new elements and exploring different musical approaches," the band say. "Our aim was to develop our sound further without losing our identity."
The part that is not boilerplate is how the record was made. Guitarist Fred Molitor recorded it in his own studio and mixed it there as well, Fred drew the cover and Jeff Buchette, the other guitarist, built it into artwork and laid out the booklet. Only the mastering went outside, to Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street.
A band from Luxembourg has to do it this way more often than a band from Gothenburg does, and after nearly twenty years they have made it a method rather than a compromise. The album lands in January.
