Shores of Null have released Homesick, the title track of their fifth album, out on 16 October through Dusktone. It follows Son of the Tide.

It was the first song written for the record, and it started where a lot of songs start and almost none admit to: the guitarist Raffaele Colace playing the opening riff over and over at soundchecks while the band were on tour with Swallow the Sun in 2023. The vocalist Davide Straccione says it became the reference point for everything after it.

What the record is about is the contradiction inside the word. Straccione describes home as something that might mean comfort, or memory, or trauma, or a person, or a version of yourself that is gone. The line that keeps coming back is My home is dangerous. The question Will I return? is never answered, and he says that is deliberate.

Ten tracks, built as one listen rather than a set of songs. The band formed in Rome in 2013 and this is their first album since The Loss of Beauty.
