Shores of Null have released a video for "The Numbing Void" on the same day as Homesick, which Dusktone put out today as the band's fifth album.
It is the slowest and heaviest thing on the record, and the one with the most help on it. Natalie Koskinen of Shape of Despair sings against Davide Straccione's growls, and Shaun MacGowan of My Dying Bride plays the violin that carries most of the song's weight. MacGowan also appears on "Dreaming Of A Scar".
The video is not a performance piece. The band assembled it from fragments of the last year: studio days, the sessions with Koskinen and MacGowan, long drives through snow, festival crowds. "It's our way of summing up what making Homesick has meant to us, and we wanted to share it with you on the day the album comes out," they said.
Ten songs, recorded at Bloom Recording Studios with Marco Mastrobuono, who also ran the pre-production. Straccione says the record is about what the word home can mean when it stops being a place, and that it is built to be heard end to end rather than picked apart. The vinyl has an intro written only for that format.
