Sigilo have released Gloria ad Inferi, eleven tracks, through Alma Mater Records. The project is one person, Duarte "Selvmord" Pombo.
He has been making black metal in Portugal since 2014, through several projects, the most substantial of them Mournkind. When that ended in 2019 he began again under this name, and the label describes Sigilo as the more focused version of what he had been circling.
The route to the album went through a split, Sermão, shared with the Brazilian project Luxúria de Lillith, which is how Alma Mater introduced him. This is the first complete record.
Eleven tracks is long for a one man debut, and the titles say where it sits: "Black Spell of Death Chaos and Destruction", "Preliminary Invocation", "Somber Prayer For the Ostracized". Nothing about it is trying to be modern. Portugal has a small and stubborn black metal scene that has never gone looking for an audience abroad, and a record like this is what it produces when somebody finally finishes one.
A jewel case CD is out alongside the streaming release.
