Signum Regis have put out Beyond Spacetime, their eighth album, on Fireflash Records. The jewelcase CD carries an exclusive bonus track, "Tell Our Fears Goodbye", with Johnny Gioeli singing it.
Eight albums in nineteen years is a working rate rather than a flourish, and it is most of what there is to say about this band: founded in 2007 near Bratislava, melodic power metal with progressive and symphonic edges, and a steady habit of handing a song to a guest voice from the melodic rock world. Gioeli, of Hardline and a long stretch with Axel Rudi Pell, is exactly that kind of booking.
Three singles went out ahead of it this year, "Echoes of Glory", "Back to Zero" and "Time to Pay", which is how a band without a large label behind it builds up to a release date.
There is a limited edition alongside the standard CD. Nothing about the record has been trailed as a change of direction.
