Signum Regis have put out Tell Our Fears Goodbye, with Johnny Gioeli singing on it, on the same day Beyond Spacetime reaches shops through Fireflash Records.
Gioeli is the voice of Hardline and has sung for Axel Rudi Pell for the better part of two decades, and the song he was given is not the obvious one. It is built on acoustic guitar and stays there. Guitarist Filip Kolus, who wrote it and handled the production and the mix, says it is very different from what people are used to hearing from the band, and he is not overselling that.
The album took around three years and moves between fast power metal, progressive stretches, symphonic arrangement and neoclassical passages, with a handful of quieter songs among them, of which this is the quietest. Miro Kiiski mastered it. Uwe Jarling painted the cover.
Gioeli describes the song as nostalgic and singles out the chorus. For a band whose catalogue is built on concept records, a ballad handed to a guest singer is the softest landing they have attempted.
