Sinister have released "The Strangulation", the first song from Lucid Nightmares, their fifteenth album, which arrives on 13 November with ten tracks on it.
"This track is Sinister one hundred per cent," said Adrie, who has been the constant in the band through every line-up it has had. "We fused the raw energy of our beginnings with the overwhelming power of modern Sinister. Expect nothing but the brutality that marks us out, the unstoppable speed and the unforgettable choruses that define our sound."
Fifteen albums is a number very few death metal bands reach, and the Dutch ones who started in the early nineties are the only scene that produces it with any regularity. What keeps the records coming is exactly what the quote describes: a band that decided what it was in 1990 and has spent thirty six years refining it rather than reconsidering it.
The album is described as traditional death metal with a dark, heavy sound, which from this band is a promise rather than a limitation.
