Slipknot are deep into the eighth album and are writing more than they need, according to Eloy Casagrande, who told Camilo Guzman of the Colombian station Radionica what the sessions look like from behind the kit.

"Right now, we are recording the new album. We are doing the new record," he said. "We are doing a lot of songs, many, many songs. The band is really happy with the music that we created so far."

He added that nobody is weighing the material against expectations, commercial or otherwise, and that the point is to make something the band believes in. That is the sort of thing musicians always say, but in this case it follows a stretch in which the band have been unusually blunt in public about the last record, including Jim Root saying what will and will not carry over from it.

Casagrande joined in 2024 and this will be the first album he plays on. It is also the first the band release through their own label.
