A local politician has asked Wembley Stadium to reconsider Marilyn Manson's place on the bill for Slipknot's stadium tour, which opens there on 3 July with Lorna Shore and Hatebreed also on it.

Anton Georgiou, who leads the Liberal Democrat group on Brent Council, raised the allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse made against Manson, which Manson has consistently denied, and asked whether they were weighed when the support acts were confirmed.

"We cannot keep saying that tackling violence against women and girls is everyone's responsibility, and then fail to ask the difficult questions when it actually matters," Georgiou said. His argument is about the venue rather than the man: what a stadium books, in his reading, is a statement to people who have been through the same thing.

Brent Council have answered that they do not control commercial bookings at the stadium, which is accurate and also the whole difficulty. The objection has no mechanism behind it, and the booking was already unpopular with part of the audience before a councillor said anything.
