Slipknot released "Arsenal", their first new song in over three years, with a video directed by M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan. It premiered in the Hottest Record slot on Jack Saunders' New Music Show on BBC Radio 1.
Two things about it are new besides the song. It is the first release on the band's own (sic)est Records imprint, closing a run with Roadrunner that lasted two and a half decades. And it is the first material recorded since Sid Wilson and Craig Jones left and Eloy Casagrande replaced Jay Weinberg behind the kit.
Corey Taylor described it to Saunders in the terms he tends to use. "It pummels. It is absolutely a pummeling experience. One of my favourite things about it is it kind of encapsulates everything that we do. It's got these great moments of hyperactivity, and then at the end, man, there's this sublime drop that just makes it. It's like we've got everyone by the hair, and we're just going, 'Go! Go!' That, to me, sums up Slipknot completely."
The band play Louder Than Life in Louisville later this month.
