Sněť have released V bažinách vědomí, their second album, through Me Saco Un Ojo Records and Dark Descent Records. The title translates roughly as In the Swamps of Consciousness, and the record runs thirty seven minutes.
Five years separate it from Mokvání v okovech, the 2021 debut that took them out of the Prague underground, with two splits in between to keep them audible. What they play is early nineties death metal kept deliberately filthy: warm but dirty guitar tone, heavy bass, guttural vocals, and rhythms that swing between speed and a groove slow enough to hurt.
The difference this time is that the songs have shapes. Chaotic passages sit next to hooks that stay with you, and ambience pushes the record past the point where revivalism is all it is doing.
