Somn have released "Swarming Mass", a song of more than eight minutes and the second preview of Consecration, out on 20 November through AOP Records.
The album has four tracks and one story running through them, about a man taken apart by other people's ambitions. "Grand ideals and lofty words amount to nothing but rivers of blood spilled in vain," the band write of it, which tells you where the record ends before it starts.
Four songs across a full album means every one of them has to carry ten minutes of weight, and the band have the background for it: black metal and post rock in equal measure, named after the god of sleep, with members who have also played in Show Me a Dinosaur, TRNA and Olhava.
Oleg Salnikov and Timur Yusupov started the project in 2017 in Saint Petersburg, with Mikhail Kurochkin and Artem Selyugin completing it. This is the second album, and "The Loyal Hand", the opener, was the first piece of it made public.
