Meshuggah, Testament and Sylosis have been added to Sonic Temple 2027, where Iron Maiden were confirmed as the first headliner last week.

The Meshuggah booking carries a date with it. The band formed in Umeå in 1987, which makes 2027 their fortieth year, and they have been hinting at plans around it. A festival slot in that year is rarely just a festival slot.

Testament bring a catalogue that starts in 1987 as well, and Sylosis the British thrash that came two decades after both. Around them the announcement puts The All-American Rejects, Switchfoot and Bowling For Soup, which says plainly what kind of festival this is: a large American weekend that sells to several audiences at once rather than one.

The names already confirmed run from A Perfect Circle and Primus to Imminence, PeelingFlesh and Saosin, which is the same spread again. The full bill is expected later this week, and on the evidence so far the metal end of it is being filled with bands who carry an anniversary or a catalogue rather than a new record.
