S.R.L. have released "Guernica", and the story it tells is invented on purpose: Picasso finishing the painting in one feverish night.

The idea is the singer's. Francesco Bacaro, who writes the words, compressed the work into a single burst to match the speed of the thing that caused it. Gernika was bombed on 26 April 1937, by German and Italian aircraft, during the Spanish Civil War, and the town was destroyed in an afternoon.

That an Italian band are the ones writing it is not incidental, and they do not avoid the point. The song is about how often this keeps happening and about what art is still able to show, with the civilian dead of other wars in the frame as well.

The animated video went up on 25 October, which was Picasso's birthday, and the single followed the next day.

They have been going since 1992, four albums into a catalogue of twenty releases, which in Italian melodic death and thrash is close to a record.
