Stormbringer have released a video for "Grow", from Transcendence, which Attic Records have out now as the band's fifth album.
"Every album captures a moment in time," said Mike Stockley, who sings. "Transcendence is about growth through adversity. It's about recognising and accepting the darkness without allowing it to define you." He is careful about what the record is not: "These songs aren't about offering easy answers, they're about questioning, understanding and ultimately finding the strength to move forward."
The band work the seam between heavy metal and the stonier end of hard rock, which in Britain is a crowded place and a hard one to climb out of. They have climbed anyway: four albums before this one, Download, and the main stage at Bloodstock, which for a band with no major label behind them is the measure that counts.
They formed in Northampton in 2011 and have nine releases out. Transcendence is the fifth album and the first since the band's profile caught up with the catalogue.
