Stratovarius have published an official live film of "I Walk To My Own Song", shot in Tampere during the Under Flaming Winter Skies tour of 2011.
The song itself is older still. It comes from Elements Pt. 2, released in 2003, at the point where the band were working through the most ambitious and most argued over records of their catalogue.
Fifteen years is a long time for footage to sit unused, and the line-up on it is worth noting. By 2011 Matias Kupiainen had been the guitarist for three years, having taken the job in 2008 from Timo Tolkki, who founded the band and wrote most of what it is known for. The film is the clearest document of that version of the group on a Finnish stage.
Releasing it now, with no album attached, looks like catalogue housekeeping rather than a campaign. The vinyl reissue of Infinite suggested the same thing: a band going through its own archive in order.
