Temperance have released "The Fool", the fourth and final song before Arcani arrives on Friday through Napalm. Thirteen songs, one for each card of the Major Arcana, and this one is the card the deck starts with.

It is also the album's opening track and, the band say, one of its longest. The order is not an accident: whoever sequenced Arcani put the Fool first because that is where the Tarot puts him, which means the concept dictated the running order rather than the other way round.

The song came from the words. "I received these lyrics from Kristin, and built the entire song around them," the band said of Kristin Starkey's text, and what they built onto it is the arrangement they have used for years: an instrumental opening, then the alternating vocals, then a neoclassical acoustic break before the last chorus.

Our own calendar has Arcani for Friday. The European tour with labelmates starts on 1 November, which gives them two weeks between the record and the first night of playing it.
