A name that has been on thrash records since the eighties is now on a band that is seven years old. The Damnnation have signed a worldwide contract with the label.
The Sao Paulo trio was founded in 2019 by Renata Petrelli, who sings and plays guitar, and is filled out by Fernanda Lessa on bass and Camila Almeida on drums, both of whom also sing. Their debut EP Parasite came out in 2020, the album Way of Perdition followed and picked up reviews in Decibel, Rock Hard, Zero Tolerance and Metal Hammer, and Eyes of Despair arrived last year. Along the way they have shared stages with Nervosa, Incantation, Exciter, Crypta and Torture Squad.
What a worldwide deal buys a Brazilian band is distribution, which is the thing the country's scene has always been short of rather than bands. Two albums and a well reviewed one among them is a reasonable price of entry, and the label gets a catalogue it does not have to build from nothing.
