The Dread Crew of Oddwood have put out Rust & Glory, which shares a title with their 2024 album and is not from it. It is a standalone song, and the band say it is where they are now.
What it is about is the price of doing this at all. "In this gruelling day and age, it is a rare treasure indeed for one to achieve their goals through their passions, and this song chronicles the personal cost of following your heart to achieve a sense of immortality," they said. "The catch is, it's always worth it, even when your body breaks and your mind rusts over." Fortune, power, fame and glory show up in the lyric as shapes on the horizon, and the song does not pretend reaching them is free.
Anna Murphy, of Cellar Darling and formerly Eluveitie, mixed and mastered it. Lutlucker Art did the artwork.
The Southern California band have been calling what they do heavy mahogany since 2008, acoustic instruments and all. They say there is more to announce.
