Scott "Wino" Weinrich says The Obsessed have finished Live Fast, Love Hard, Die Free and will go straight back into the studio in December for an EP.
"It's finished. It's mixed, mastered, the whole nine, and the label has it," he told Laughing Monkey With Shawn Ratches. Heavy Psych Sounds has it for roughly March 2027, later than planned: guitarist Jason Taylor is having a baby, and the holidays sit in the way. A single and probably a video come first.
The album follows Gilded Sorrow from 2024 and was recorded at Waterford Digital Studio in Pasadena, Maryland with Frank Marchand producing. "There's a lot of tunes on it. The tunes are short," Wino said, which from a doom band is either a joke or a warning.
The December session is the more interesting half. A couple of songs did not make the album, but he does not want to use the EP as a bin. "Maybe it'll be one song. I don't know. But I'm kind of feeling pretty inspired."
Live, they have been playing the title track and nothing else from it.
