The Ocean release Solaris tomorrow, 25 September, through Pelagic Records.
The first and last titles on the record are not words. It opens with 52°30'11"N, 13°26'12"E, two minutes and eleven seconds of it, and ends with 51°28′30″S, 73°6′11″W at 5:21. The first pair of coordinates falls on Berlin, where the band works. The second falls in Última Esperanza, in Chilean Patagonia, which is also where two tracks in the middle of the record get their name.
Three of the songs come in parts: Simulacra runs to three, Belligerence and Ultima Esperanza to two each. Light Pollution, at 9:56, is the longest single piece on it. Milk Of My Dreams, put out a week ago, has Tangerine Dream on it.
It is the first album since Holocene in 2023, in a catalogue that has been organised by concept since Fogdiver in 2003 and takes in Precambrian, Pelagial and the two Phanerozoic records. The line up carries two singers, Lane Oshi and Nrehk, three guitarists in Robin Staps, Marco Gennaro and Emmanuel Jessua, Mattias Hägerstrand on bass and Jordi Farré on drums.
