Wind Of Change, the Scorpions biopic, opens in German cinemas on 28 January 2027. No date has been announced anywhere else, and a trailer is out.

The casting is the detail worth having. Alexander Dreymon, of The Last Kingdom, plays Rudolf Schenker. Ludwig Trepte plays Klaus Meine. Ed Speleers plays Matthias Jabs and Luke Brandon Field plays the drummer Herman Rarebell, which is the band's longest running line up. Dominic West plays Doc McGhee, the manager, and David Kross plays Andrej, a friend of the band imprisoned on the other side of the Berlin wall. Alex Ranarivelo directed and shooting began in early 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, outside London.

The song gives the film its frame. Written after the band played Moscow, it became the piece people reached for when the wall came down, and the film is built around that rather than around the Hanover years or the records that sold more.

Ali Afshar of ESX Entertainment, which produced it for FOX Entertainment Studios, put his own reason on record: the band's music, he said, helped him through his difficulties as an Iranian immigrant in America in the early eighties. The band formed in Hanover in 1964 and have twenty albums behind them.
