Torii will release Despaire on 18 December, with no label behind it, which is how this band have always worked.

It is one person, in Rogers, Arkansas, and the output is the striking part: seven full length albums since 2012, all of them self released, in a form that sits between black metal, doom and post metal and belongs to none of the three cleanly. That pace is only possible without anybody else in the room, and it is the oldest argument for the one man band as a format.

Ten songs here: "Forge of Creation", "Shimmer", "Snow", "Becoming", "A Loathsome Life", "Stream", "Momentum", the title track, "The Blue" and "Dagger in Hand". Single word titles dominate, which in this corner of the genre usually signals long instrumental passages rather than verses.

No song has been released from it yet and no streaming link has been given. The date is 18 December and the rest will arrive when it arrives.
