Turbokill have disbanded. The heavy metal band from Annaberg-Buchholz in Saxony announced the end after ten years, two albums and a long run of shows, and Metal Storm carried the statement first.
It opens the way these things usually open, with the line that every story comes to an end at some point. What follows is less usual, because it says what happened: there were differing views inside the band about the direction to take after the last record.
That record is Champion, out in 2024 on Steamhammer, their second full-length after Vice World in 2019. Before either of those came the self-titled EP of 2018, and between the albums a steady line of singles in 2019, 2023 and 2024. Ten years from the 2016 start to this, which is longer than most bands at that level manage.
The three who finish it are Stephan Dietrich on vocals, Ronny Schuster on guitars and Kevin Käferstein on drums. Dietrich sang in Alpha Tiger and Satin Black before this, Schuster played in Ebony Wall, Testimony and Rimmersgard, and Käferstein also keeps time in Nephilim and Doomed, so none of them is short of somewhere to go.
