Type O Negative Turned Down a Lot of Money for One Peter Steele Tribute

Kenny Hickey says Type O Negative were offered a lot of money for one Peter Steele tribute concert, and that they could not do it.

His reasoning is arithmetic rather than sentiment. Putting the band back together means relearning the music, building a show to look at, and finding someone who can handle Steele's parts. For one night that work cannot be justified. It would have to be many shows, he says, for a lot of money.

The part he will not move on is the bass. Plenty of men can sing low, he told the HardLore podcast, and none of them can play what Steele played.

There is also Josh Silver, who was the keyboard player and spent years afterwards working as a paramedic in New York. Hickey says Silver has never been willing to commit, and that he is the kind of man who either gives a hundred and fifty per cent or does not turn up.

So the offers sit there. Hickey will not rule a tribute out forever, and he does not expect it.
