Überchriist release Dæmonic Apotheosis on 25 September through Deanwell Global Music, ten tracks and thirty-eight minutes, and the only thing the title shares with its usual meaning is the direction of travel reversed. The elevation here goes downward.
The opening track and first single, Anti-Phoenix Descent, sets it out: a narrator sinking toward the abyss in the company of a water elemental, with resurrection and ascent dropped somewhere on the way. The second single, Serpent's Shroud, arrives on 18 September, a week ahead of the album, and turns the same process inward.
The band started in Atlanta in 2010 as a duo and are a quartet now. Cold tremolo guitars, blastbeats and hostile vocals hold the floor, with traditional heavy metal showing through the riffing when the songs allow it. Before this there was only the EP Et Veniens, in 2021.
