Upon Shadows have released "The Great Shadow", the first song from Golden Flame, an album they have set for 2027.
"The Great Shadow is about the awakening of consciousness and, with it, the inevitable rebellion," the band said of it, "the pursuit of the most arcane and primordial forms of knowledge, from a distinctly Luciferian perspective, without neglecting the poetic dimension that constitutes a large part of the heart of Upon Shadows." They describe the music more briefly: "pure darkness: dense, unpretentious, and true to our style."
Tamara Picardo wrote, recorded and mixed it, Natalia Arocena recorded the bass, and Tony Lindgren mastered it at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden, which is a long way from Montevideo in every sense and the usual route for a South American band who want the record to sound the way the European ones do.
This is a band with twenty one releases behind them and seven albums, working a seam of black and gothic metal that has very little company in Uruguay, and the new record will be the eighth.
