Urarv have put Nychta Psychis up to stream in full through Darkness Shall Rise Productions, a day after the album came out. It runs thirty two minutes and forty seconds across five songs.
Three of those five pass seven minutes, which tells you what shape the record is: not a collection of songs but a handful of long ones with "Operation Genocide" sitting short near the end, before the closer "Youniverse". It opens with "Dodheimsgard", which is both a song title and the name of the band Aldrahn helped make.
That is the frame for everything here. Aldrahn founded Urarv in 2003 after Thorns, Dodheimsgard and Zyklon-B, and the label points at the early Dodheimsgard records as the reference rather than at anything more recent. The black metal foundation holds, but the writing is allowed to wander well outside it, and the vocals are the part that wanders furthest.
Vinyl, jewel case CD, cassette and digital. The 180 gram pressing is capped at 999 copies, split three ways between black, white and a swirl, each with a printed insert.
