Vûlom have put out a video for Longing, from Love's Lament, the album they released on 13 September.
The band take their name from the Elder Scrolls games, where the word means darkness in the invented dragon language, and they have been consistent about what they want from it. Melodic death doom, slow and heavy, with the melody carrying whatever the weight cannot. They name Saturnus, October Tide, Dawn of Solace, Hamferd, Paradise Lost and Swallow the Sun among the records they grew out of, and the family resemblance is not hidden.
The words stay on mortality, loss and insignificance, and the band say plainly that the first album was not written to sound dark for the sake of sounding dark. Walls of Agony came out on 30 December 2019 and dealt with feeling lost, with unreturned love and with suicidal thinking. A Step Closer to the Grave followed on 28 April 2023 as a concept record about drifting away from the person you used to be. Love's Lament works the same ground through love, guilt and grief.
They formed in 2018, have three albums behind them, and are still unsigned.
