Warpath have signed a multi-album deal with Testimony Records, who will release the Hamburg band's eighth album early in 2027.
Dirk Weiss, who sings, was unusually plain about what the band were shopping for. We also needed a solid financial base, top-notch promotion, and guaranteed distribution of our albums, he said, and added that it came after talking with other bands and a long search. Bands rarely say the quiet part about distribution out loud, and a band thirty five years in says it because it has been on the other side of it.
For the label the deal widens the catalogue. Testimony is known for old school death metal, and manager Thomas Strater describes the coming record as German thrash crossed with New York metal and hardcore, which is a way of saying the signing is not a heritage purchase.
The band are three at the moment: Weiss, with Marco Steiner on guitar and Sascha Schekanski on bass, both of whom joined in 2024. The drum seat is empty and session players are filling it.
Founded in 1991, they put out their debut the year after, went quiet for a long stretch, and have been working again since Bullets for a Desert Session in 2017, with Filthy Bastard Culture in 2018 and Disharmonic Revelations in 2022 behind them.
