Watain have been added to Mystic Festival 2027, which runs from 3 to 6 June at the Gdansk Shipyard. Passes are on sale through the festival.

The booking is not an ordinary one, and the band do not pretend it is. In September 2025 Watain said they would end after an eighth album, a record described then as three years away and timed to the band's thirtieth anniversary. Every date announced since sits inside that countdown.

Erik Danielsson puts it this way: they look forward to setting out on a last round of shows before the end, and to reminding people of the powers this music can possess when it is not held back by the laws and sentiments of the modern world. He calls Watain a remnant of a dark past that now exists only as myth and memory, too primal and perhaps too real for this day and age.

That is the register the band have used for twenty eight years and it has never slipped once, which is a large part of why the ending is being treated as an event rather than a notice.
