Wayfarer have released "Grey Country", the third song from Riders of the Setting Sun, which arrives on 20 November.
Munly J Munly sings on it, and Rebecca Vera plays. Munly is a Denver songwriter who has spent three decades in the gothic country corner of Colorado music rather than in metal, and a band who call what they do western black metal bringing him in is the most direct statement they have made about where the western half comes from.
The record is also the first the band have made with an outside producer. Ben Chisholm, who has built most of Chelsea Wolfe's records, ran the sessions, with James Barone of Beach House and Iver Sandøy of Enslaved involved as well.
That is a lot of outside hands for a band who have made four albums alone, and the three songs out so far suggest the point was not to smooth the sound but to widen it.
