Waylander release Mac Tire: Son of the Land tomorrow, 6 November, through Rockshots Records.
Nine songs, and the track list is a map. Macha is the war goddess who gave Armagh its name, Sliabh Gullion is the mountain in South Armagh the band live under, Hy Brasil is the island that was supposed to appear once every seven years, Ages of Eireann is the long view, and Our Once Wooded Isle is the complaint underneath all of it.
Mallachtai, the other song released early, sits seventh.
Waylander have been doing this since 1993, longer than almost anyone in Celtic metal, and from the part of Ireland where the subject matter is not decoration. The record ends on She of the Sorrows, and Rockshots are giving it a CD release. Nine songs is the longest track list they have assembled in over a decade, and the two released early sit far apart in it, at four and at seven.
