Waylander have released "Mallachtaí", the third song from Mac Tíre, Son of the Land, which Rockshots Records put out on 6 November.

The subject is narrower and better than the usual pagan metal fare. "Mallachtaí deals with the power of satire which the bards and druids held," the band said, and the historical claim behind that is real: in early Ireland a bard's satire could cost a king his standing, which made it a form of power rather than entertainment.

A Celtic metal band from Northern Ireland writing about that rather than about battles is the difference between using the mythology and reading it.

It follows "Hy Brasil (Isle of Mists)" and "Macha", which leaves the sixth album with three songs out and just over two weeks to go. Rockshots have had the band since the last record, and this is the longest run of previews they have given one.
