Waylander have put out a video for Hy Brasil (Isle Of Mists), the second piece of Mac Tire: Son of the Land after Macha. Rockshots Records release the album on 6 November.
Hy Brasil is the island Irish legend puts off the west coast, visible once every seven years through the mist and never reachable. The song keeps the band's two halves in the same room, which is what they have been doing since 1993: the extreme metal underneath, and whistles, Irish bouzouki, bodhran and uilleann pipes over it, so the traditional playing is structural rather than decorative.
Nine tracks, fifty one minutes and twenty nine seconds: When The Land Speaks, Macha, Ages of Eireann, Hy Brasil (Isle of Mists), Sliabh Gullion, Our Once Wooded Isle, Mallachtai, Signs and Symbols and She of the Sorrows. Beside the six piece there are three guests, John Ryan on fiddle and cello, Lily Maria as the voice of Deirdre and Nicole Quinn on additional voicing.
The band formed in Armagh and this is their sixth album in thirty three years, after Eriu's Wheel in 2019. They have never been prolific and have never stopped.
