Wharflurch have released Mycodeath and Rebirth in the Outer Clusters, their second album, and the whole thing is streaming.
It picks up where Psychedelic Realms ov Hell left off in 2021, and takes that record's protagonist off the planet. What he finds is a universe quietly run by fungal entities the band call Mycolords, who seed worlds with spores in order to grow sentient life and then see what it does. He becomes part of the experiment rather than a witness to it.
Five years between the two, and the second one commits to the premise instead of walking it back. Death metal has a long habit of building a world across records and then abandoning it; this is the other thing.
