Whiplash have put out Bullet Train, the first single from Roar, which Time To Kill Records release on 27 November.
The record has been out once already, under another name. A small run of CD promos went out independently during the band's European Campaign For Musical Destruction tour with Napalm Death earlier this year, under the title Thrashquake. For the worldwide release it became Roar, with new cover art by Ed Repka.
In the announcement Sonic Perspectives carried, Tony Portaro said Thrashquake was the original title and the copies sold on tour kept it, and that Roar felt stronger once the label was looking at a worldwide release. Of the song he said it is their high octane anthem for the speed freaks, about the addiction to speed, chaos and the constant chase.
Ten songs, recorded at Studio Mozart and Concrete Island Studio, produced by Portaro and mixed by Jamie King. The band formed in Passaic, New Jersey in 1984, Portaro has sung and played guitar through every version of it, and Will Winton has been on bass since 2023. Roar is the first Whiplash album since Unborn Again in 2009.
