Wicked Asylum are finished. The Milan band announced it themselves, after almost eighteen years together.
Banshee, Cioppa, Roby and Chiara put out a statement saying the decision was not an easy one but was necessary for them at this point. They thank the people who were part of their working lives, the friends they met along the way, and, by name, the ones who paid into their crowdfunding campaigns so the records could exist at all. The four of them, they write, will go on supporting each other as a small family.
Two concerts are left. The first is on Saturday 7 November, at the launch party for Amthrya, alongside Madness of Sorrow, at the Dedolor Music venue. Details of the second are still to come.
They formed in 2009 and leave behind the EP Rebirth from 2016 and two albums, Out of the Mist in 2020 and Kintsugi in 2023. The second of those took its name from the Japanese practice of mending broken pottery with gold, which for a band three years from the end reads differently now than it did then.
