Wintersun's next album has got longer. Jari Maenpaa said in a video update that he has added another song, which takes the record past seventy minutes.
The song came out of an illness. He was ill earlier this year, and used the recovery to write around a chorus he had been carrying for years. It took two or three weeks, and he recorded what he calls one of his craziest guitar solos in the same stretch.
The vocals are about ninety percent done and he rates them his best peak performances ever. What is left is the rest of the singing, then the rhythm guitars, which need the low tuned equipment the band use. He also said the release will come with the biggest bonus content they have put together.
Nothing was said about a date. The band's last album, Time II, arrived in 2024, twelve years after Time I, so the audience for this one is used to waiting and used to the record changing shape while they do.
