Witchgoat have put out Storming the Walls of Eternity, from Serpent Hordes, which arrives on 4 December.
It is track eight of ten, between Deceivers of the Crucifix and Nyctophiliac, with an intro and an outro bracketing the record. Choosing the second to last song as the preview is unusual and tends to mean the band think the album earns its ending.
Two labels are carrying it in two formats, Personal Records on CD and Morbid Skull Records on tape, which is how a black and thrash record from Central America reaches the people who buy them.
This is the third full length from a band who formed in San Salvador in 2016 and whose first two, Egregors of the Black Faith and Altars of Necromancy, came four years apart. The tenth anniversary has them leaning back towards thrash, and this song does not argue with that.
El Salvador is not a country that exports much metal, and the ones who do get out tend to sound like this: fast, unvarnished and uninterested in production polish.
