The premise is what happens after the concrete loses. Wolves in the Throne Room have released a video for Estuary, the title track and second single from the album Century Media Records put out on 23 October.
The band produced the video themselves. It follows mythical figures through collapsed railway track and industrial ruin gone over to brambles and ivy, with a blue heron holding the estuary where salt water and fresh water meet.
Nathan Weaver put the record's world plainly. "If, in the future, the wilderness were to overwhelm the cities, estuaries would become realms of power and magic," he said. "In the album's narrative universe, estuaries are nerve centres where magic has taken physical form. Spirits, both good and evil, roam the earth."
The band have been working the same ground from Washington state since 2003, and the estuary is a good enough image for what they do: two things that should not mix, doing it anyway.
