Wormrot will play their British tour without Fitri Hamid. The drummer withdrew because of a medical emergency the band have not described, and Dave Taylor of Endless Swarm takes the kit.
The announcement came a week before the first date and the band made no attempt to dress it up. They asked everyone to wish him the speediest recovery, said Taylor would be stepping in, and apologised for the silence on the grounds that they had been in a mad scramble.
Ten dates from 12 November in Nottingham to 21 November in Southampton, through London, Newcastle, Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin, Manchester, Leeds and Cardiff. For a grindcore band whose songs rarely pass two minutes, learning that set at a week's notice is a particular kind of ask, and Endless Swarm come from the same corner, which is presumably why the call went there.
Hamid has been behind this band since the beginning in Singapore, through a catalogue that made them the most widely heard grindcore act to come out of Southeast Asia.
